Our Purpose
The Oaklands PAC works in partnership with families and school staff to support initiatives that enrich student experiences and strengthen our school community. From fundraising and family events to volunteer opportunities, advocacy and long-term school projects, we work together to create meaningful opportunities for every Oaklands student. We also welcome new ideas and encourage all caregivers to help shape the future of our school.
What we do
We're partnering with the Compost Education Centre to provide every class with hands-on environmental education presentations in our beautiful school courtyard, while continuing to work with Habitat Systems and their grant writing team to move our Accessible Playground Project forward. We're also planning fun community events, expanding our Fun Lunch program with new local food suppliers, and welcoming OneAbility to provide adaptive sports programming for every class. In addition, we're proud to have been selected by the City of Victoria to participate in the School Streets Program, where we'll work together to create a safer, more active and welcoming school environment while planning a week of fun activities for Oaklands students and families.
This year, we expanded our Outdoor Emergency Supplies, launched planning for our Accessible Playground Project, helped establish the LEGO Club, funded new outdoor sports equipment and continued bringing families together through community events and fundraisers.
We replaced all classroom emergency kits, hosted family and community events, supported school health initiatives and created new opportunities for student learning through environmental education and other school programs.
We strengthened our school community by hosting family events, supporting parent education, funding classroom resources, improving active transportation safety and recognizing our dedicated crossing guards.
Who's Involved
Executive positions are volunteer roles held by Oaklands parents and caregivers who are passionate about supporting our school community. Together, we collaborate, brainstorm and bring ideas to life that enrich student experiences and strengthen our school community. In addition to our Executive Board, the PAC relies on a variety of sub-committees and volunteers who are vital to the success of our programs and initiatives. Opportunities are available to suit a range of interests and availability, including helping with family events, Fun Lunch deliveries, our Emergency Preparedness Program, Active Transportation, launching a Rainbow Club for the 2026–2027 school year, and partnering with the City of Victoria to bring School Streets to Oaklands. Interested in getting involved? We'd love to hear from you! Reach out anytime to learn more about our volunteer opportunities.
